Global Warming
Global warming is an immensely important issue and we must act NOW! That is what we are being told by activists and they are very sincere or at least very noisy. Are they right? That is another issue. Do they understand the science behind their claims? NO! A degree in English literature or mediaeval Latin fails to convince. In fact they were selling the global cooling theory until 1975.
In fact global warming is important as a psychological phenomenon. It was just one of a number of issues where activists have been wrong, completely wrong and dangerously wrong. It is worth looking at the literature and seeing what the arguments are. There are always going to be people who claim that they know better and go beyond the science we learn at school. It is the way with fanatics. You could say the same about religious enthusiasms.
The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed--and hence clamorous to be led to safety--by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary. Thus quoth HL Mencken

Ball is a climatologist and understands the science the way that
99.9% of us do not. His view is that the issue being driven by
politicians, activists and scientists with an agenda. He tells us

Whether there's very slight global cooling or very slight global
