Top Stories 2023

2023 has arrived; we can hope that it will be better than 2022, the year just gone. That brought us problems we didn't need. 2023 could be far worse. Philip Giraldi, lately of the CIA asks #Will 2023 Be Worse Than 2022. He was on the inside but he still knows people; his views are solidly based.

Sean Gabb laments our past and our entirely likely continued decline, helped along by the Treason of the Tories. A particular point is that the Royal Shakespeare Company have decided to "improve" his play, to make it fit their nasty prejudices. See for yourself at Shakespeare and the Redundancy of Conservatism.

Will 2023 Be Worse Than 2022?
QUOTE
Even though one has become accustomed to seeing the United States government behaving irrationally on an epic scale with no concern for what happens to the average citizen who is not a member of one of the freak show constituencies of the Democratic Party, it is still possible to be surprised or even shocked. Shortly before year’s end 2022 an article appeared in the mainstream media and was quite widely circulated. The headline that it was featured under in the original Business Insider version read “A nuclear attack would most likely target one of these 6 US cities — but an expert says none of them are prepared.” The cities were New York, Washington DC, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston and San Francisco.

The article seeks to provide information and tips that would allow one to survive a nuclear attack, repeating commentary from several “experts” in emergency management and “public health” suggesting that a nuclear war would be catastrophic but not necessarily the end of the world. One should be prepared. It observes that “those cities would struggle to provide emergency services to the wounded. The cities also no longer have designated fallout shelters to protect people from radiation.” It is full of sage advice and off-the-cuff observations, including “Can you imagine a public official keeping buildings intact for fallout shelters when the real-estate market is so tight?” Or even better the advice from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)’s “nuclear detonation planning guide” that for everyday citizens in a city that has been nuked: “Get inside, stay inside, and stay tuned.” Dr. Ron Paul asks “Are they insane? They act as if a nuclear attack on the United States is just another inconvenience to plan for, like an ice storm or a hurricane.”..............

The appearance of the Business Insider article dealing with a cool discussion of the survivability from a nuclear war suggests that the nutcases are again escaping from the psychiatric hospital here in the US and are obtaining top jobs in government and the media. While one continues to hope that somehow someone will wake up in the White House and realize that the deep dark hole that we the American people find ourselves in mandates a change of course and a genuine reset, there is little daylight visible in the darkness...........

Apparently, the bellicose Rick does not quite get that Russia has made clear that if it is about to be defeated by force majeure it will go nuclear. And Congress and the White House don’t seem to get it either, with both the Republican and Democratic parties oblivious to the real danger that confronts the American people. Nuclear war? Sure! Just hide in your basement, if you have one, and tune in.

Doctor Giraldi has spent his working life, as a CIA man dealing with this sort of issue. He is right. American politicians are mad, bad and dangerous to know.

Criminal Of The Year 2021
Is Lukashenko, the thug running Belarus aka White Russia
QUOTE
Today we named our annual “Person of the Year in Organized Crime and Corruption,” an award given to those who have done the most to advance organized criminal activity and corruption.

In another banner year for corruption, a global independent panel of judges chose Aleksandr Lukashenko, President of Belarus. This is the first time in the 10-year history of the award that the decision was unanimous.

Europe’s brutal last dictator, Lukashenko was elected in 1994 as a reformer but has since violently clung to power despite long ago falling out of favor with the people. He has done that through iron-fisted political control of the country, rigging elections, torturing critics, and arbitrarily arresting thousands of protesters — all with the aid and approval of the Kremlin. Through grand corruption, he has built a massive patronage system that gives him near total control of the economy and he has committed gross human rights violations to protect that corruption.

London's Teenage Murder Toll Is Record High At 30 In 2021  [ 1 January 2022 ]
QUOTE
London's teenage murder toll has hit a record high of 30 killings in a single year after two boys, aged 15 and 16, were killed within minutes of each other last night.

The brutal new high of deaths will inevitably heap more pressure on Mayor Sadiq Khan, who has today claimed knife crime in London has gone down, to seize control of the gang and stabbing epidemic sweeping the capital's streets.

And anti-knife crime campaigners warned today not enough was being done to tackle the problem as they criticised what they called London's 'scattergun' approach.

'It is a societal problem which will continue unless it is addressed properly.'

See the mug shots & read the names to know that over eight out of ten are Third World aliens. They are largely murdered by their own. Compare this with Chicago, which logged 786 murders in 2021, with 633 black, 104 brown, 9 unknown(!) & 30 white. THE issue? Gang wars over drugs. What is the answer? Export the Third World parasites that Johnson is inflicting on us. BTW, a large most of the serial killers in Britain are blacks benefitting from a Mainstream Media cover up. You doubt it? Brexit
The nausea that has made us a laughing stock in much of Europe is now, on 1 January 2021 sorted out. The crooks in Parliament mutinied against us, the people and our Referendum. The Tories put Theresa May into office to betray us; she did. Now, after a December election Boris Johnson won, while  Comrade Corbyn lost very decisively. So now Boris will stitch us up instead of May. In the end people gave up on Nigel Farage and Brexit Party. We are not getting real Brexit. That is why the opposition, the Enemy Within went quiet before the election. The French are not reported to have sabotaged travellers. That does not mean they aren't doing it, only that it is not being reported.

Coronavirus
It kicked off early in 2020 in China just like SARS, which is Severe acute respiratory syndrome in full. They both originate from bats. The Wikipedia's write up on Coronavirus Disease 2019 looks competent. It is far from finished. Various ghastly little tyrants want total lockdowns for as long as they can get away with it. Politicians are pandering to them and their horror stories.

Withdrawal of United States Troops From Afghanistan (2020 to 2021)
QUOTE
The United States Armed Forces completed their withdrawal from
Afghanistan on 30 August 2021, marking the end of the 2001–2021 War in Afghanistan. The withdrawal took place in the context of the Doha Agreement (formally titled the Agreement for Bringing Peace to Afghanistan),[7] signed in February 2020 by the Trump administration and the Taliban without participation by the Afghan government, which provided for the withdrawal of all foreign forces from Afghanistan, in return for a Taliban pledge to prevent al-Qaeda from operating in areas under Taliban control, and future talks between the Taliban and the Afghan government for a permanent ceasefire.[8]

As part of the Doha Agreement, the Trump administration agreed to an initial reduction of US forces from 13,000 to 8,600 troops by July 2020, followed by a complete withdrawal by 1 May 2021, if the Taliban kept its commitments.[9] At the start of the Biden administration, there were 2,500 US soldiers in Afghanistan and in April Biden said the US would not begin withdrawing these soldiers before 1 May, but would complete the withdrawal by 11 September.[10][11] The Taliban began a final offensive on 1 May. On 8 July, Biden specified a new completion date of 31 August.[12] Biden considered but rejected extending the withdrawal deadline beyond 31 August.[13] There were about 650 US troops in Afghanistan in early August 2021, tasked with protecting the airport and embassy.[14][15] US intelligence assessments estimated as late as July that Kabul would fall within months or weeks following withdrawal of all American forces from Afghanistan, though the security situation deteriorated rapidly.[16][17]

On 12 August, following continued Taliban victories across Afghanistan, the Biden administration announced that 3,000 U.S. troops would be deployed to Kabul International Airport to secure the evacuation of embassy personnel, U.S. nationals and SIV applicants.[18][19] With the rapid advance of the Taliban in the provinces, on 14 August the US increased its troop commitment to 5,000.[20] On 15 August, with the fall of Kabul, another 1,000 troops were authorized,[21] and on 16 August, another 1,000 troops were authorized, bringing the total number of troops to 7,000. The last US military planes left Kabul airport at 11:59 p.m. Kabul time on 30 August 2021.[22]

US Forces Afghanistan Forward was established on July 7, 2021, as a successor command overseeing the evacuation of all US diplomatic, security, advisory, and counter-terrorism personnel remaining in the country after the withdrawal of US troops. The US also launched Operation Allies Refuge to airlift to the United States translators and selected Afghan citizens considered at risk of reprisals. However, after the fall of Kabul to the Taliban on 15 August 2021, the operation to evacuate all Americans, eligible Afghans, and other NATO nationals was accelerated. NATO's Resolute Support Mission concluded on 12 July 2021.[23]

Following the U.S. withdrawal, around one thousand U.S. citizens and Afghans holding U.S. or other visas were held up by the Taliban with the U.S. government not authorizing their departure.[24][25]

Michael Yon, an ex-special forces soldier and reporter tells us repeatedly that Americans are being kept behind by the American government for reasons unknown. This particularly bad retreat withdrawal has been marked by spectacular incompetence and de facto mutiny by the American High Command, led by Mark Milley, the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff. Something on the events is at Afghanistan.

Hamas Attacked Jews In Occupied Palestine  [ 7 October 2023 ]
QUOTE
JERUSALEM, Oct 7 (Reuters) - A surprise attack by Hamas on Israel, which combined gunmen breaching security barriers with a barrage of rockets fired from Gaza, was launched at dawn on Saturday during the Jewish high holiday of Simchat Torah.

The attack came 50 years and a day after Egyptian and Syrian forces launched an assault during the Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur in an effort to retrieve territory Israel had taken during a brief conflict in 1967.

This is how it took place:

COVERING ROCKET BARRAGE
At about 6.30 a.m. (0430 GMT) Palestinian Islamist group Hamas fired a huge barrage of rockets across southern Israel, with sirens heard as far away as Tel Aviv and Beersheba
Hamas said it had fired 5,000 rockets in a first barrage. Israel's military said 2,500 rockets were fired.

DAWN INFILTRATION
The barrage served as cover for an unprecedented multi-pronged infiltration of fighters, with the Israeli military saying at 7.40 a.m. (0540 GMT) that Palestinian gunmen had crossed into Israel. Most fighters crossed through breaches in land security barriers separating Gaza and Israel. But at least one was filmed crossing on a powered parachute while a motorboat was filmed heading to Zikim, an Israeli coastal town and military base.

Videos issued by Hamas showed fighters breaching the security fences, with the dim light and low sun suggesting it was at around the time of the rocket barrage.

One video showed at least six motorbikes with fighters crossing through a hole in a metal security barrier. A photograph released by Hamas showed a bulldozer tearing down a section of security fence.

FIGHTING AT ISRAELI MILITARY BASES
Israel's military said at 10 a.m. that Palestinian fighters had penetrated at least three military installations around the frontier - the Erez border crossing, the Zikim base and the Gaza division headquarters at Reim. It said fighting at Erez and Zikim continued.

Hamas videos showed fighters running towards a burning building near a high concrete wall with a watchtower and fighters apparently overrunning part of an Israeli military facility and shooting from behind a wall..............

ISRAELI STRIKES
At 9.45 a.m. blasts were heard in central Gaza and Gaza city and at 10.00 a.m. Israel's military spokesperson said the airforce was carrying out strikes in Gaza. Medics in Gaza said dozens of people were killed in the strikes.

War Criminal Of The Year 2023 Is Benjamin Netanyahu
QUOTE
As 2023 comes to a close, grim numbers in Gaza are piling up, where Israel’s bombardment and invasion have thus far killed more than 20,000 people, including 8,200 children and 6,200 women. Those dire statistics lay alongside the grievous outcome of Hamas’s attack on Israel on October 7, in which 1,139 people were killed—including 36 children—and nearly 250 Israelis were taken hostage by Hamas, again, including about 30 children.

But beyond the dismal casualty statistics, we’re ending the year on what may be a more lasting concern for the future of the region: Israel’s response has been characterized by many as war crimes, with its larger goals for the conflict tantamount to genocide, or at the very least, a plan to displace the entire population in an act of ethnic cleansing. Experts in the field have decried these tactics, and others, as crimes against humanity.

Israeli officials, in their own words, seem to tacitly acknowledge that their critics’ worst fears are far from unfounded. In early November, Israeli security cabinet member and Agriculture Minister Avi Dichter said “We are now rolling out the Gaza Nakba,” referring to the war against Palestinians and seizure of territory that marked Israel’s founding in 1948..................

The man who bears the most responsibility for these war crimes is Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

“It’s really rare for war criminals to just openly announce their actions,” said John Cox, professor of global studies and history at the University of North Carolina, Charlotte, who also directs the Center for Holocaust, Genocide and Human Rights Studies............

Cox noted that this month marks the seventy-fifth anniversary of the U.N.’s Genocide Convention. “[The war in Gaza] literally does take on genocidal proportions and potential, along with daily humiliations and affronts to human rights that Israel has been engaging in for 75 years,” Cox said.

On October 28, for example, Netanyahu referred to Gazans as Amalek, invoking a Biblical enemy. In 1 Samuel 15:1-35, the prophet Samuel tells the king, Saul, to “attack Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have; do not spare them, but kill both man and woman, child and infant, ox and sheep, camel and donkey.”

“When you invoke Amalek, the message of total destruction of Palestinians is very very clear. It’s not open to multiple interpretations or anything like that,” Segal said.

The soldiers and officers in the Israeli military understand this very well, Segal said. He pointed to videos from Gaza [ It is actually at https://www.instagram.com/reel/C0lnWqRCuqp/ - Editor ] showing Israeli soldiers dancing and singing a song in Gaza that proclaims that they’re there to root out the seed of Amalek. “They say very directly in their slogan that there are no innocent civilians,” Segel said. “This portrayal of an entire community is a common genocidal mechanism.”

Other actions from Israeli soldiers also echo Netanyahu’s proclamations. A December 8 video from Gaza’s Shejaiya neighborhood shows Israeli soldiers setting fire to a truck with food and water in it, fitting Israel’s October 9 declaration of a “complete siege” of Gaza, in which Israel’s defense minister Yoav Gallant said that “no electricity, no food, no water, no fuel” would be allowed into Gaza. This is an unambiguous violation of the second article of the 1948 United Nations Genocide Convention, which includes “causing serious bodily or mental harm to members” of a particular group, as well as the deliberate “inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part.”

“Numerous experts are all saying that what we’re seeing in Gaza is unprecedented levels of destruction and killing, very similar and probably more intense than the Russian invasion of Ukraine in the first months of the invasion, which Biden described as genocide,” Segal said...........

Israel’s invasion has brought perverse, twenty-first century innovations into the field of genocide: the use of artificial intelligence in generating and identifying military targets, which has resulted in an exponential increase in the casualty statistics. This technology has enabled the Israeli military to expand its attacks on the civilian populace, raining down death on private residences as well as public buildings, infrastructure, and high-rise blocks, which ensures that more civilians will be killed.

Netanyahu is “someone who really is like Trump, utterly without any scruples or decency whatsoever,” said Cox. It “doesn’t take much pushing to carry out these war crimes and atrocities that he’s carrying out at the moment. He will do whatever it takes to stay in power [ and out of prison - Editor ].”

Along with other scholars, Cox signed a declaration supporting a lawsuit from the nonprofit Center for Constitutional Rights against President Joe Biden and other U.S. officials. The lawsuit backs a group of Palestinians living in Gaza and the U.S. who allege that American officials are not taking “all measures available to it to prevent a genocide.”

“This is a whole different situation that’s been going on since October 7,” Cox said. “There’s a whole ferocity about it.”

City University of New York professor Victoria Sanford, an expert in the Guatemalan genocide of the 1980s, is another signatory. She says that there are “chilling comparisons” between what happened in Guatemala and what’s happening in Gaza right now.

The “genocide in Guatemala happened when the army went in and knowingly massacred civilians, people fled into the mountains and were attacked in the mountains,” said Sanford. She pointed to civilians in Gaza being attacked in the north of Gaza, then fleeing to the south on Israeli military orders, only to be attacked in the south again.

“If you’re bombing and destroying everything, you’re destroying that culture, you’re destroying that people,” said Sanford. This also fits the definition of genocide in the second article of the 1948 convention.

The language being used to justify the Israeli Defense Force’s actions compares Palestinian people to animals and says children are fair targets. “Children are never fair targets, there is never a moral justification for killing children,” Sanford said.

“To claim ignorance doesn’t really work. All of these human rights organizations are saying these atrocities are being committed,” Sanford said. “It’s known what’s happening to the Palestinian population in Gaza. It’s clear that there is a genocide because women and children are targets.”

As Netanyahu presides over these war crimes, in effect, the United States government continues to lend him its tacit support. “In the case of Israel, the U.S. and American citizens really need to think of the U.S. as not just enabling and funding these atrocities,” said Cox.
