Global Warming is a Political Boondoggle

Henry Louis Mencken explained it all very simply a long time ago.
QUOTE
Civilization, in fact, grows more and more maudlin and hysterical; especially under democracy it tends to degenerate into a mere combat of crazes; the whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by an endless series of hobgoblins, most of them imaginary.

Global warming and snow fall in central Sweden [ 18 June 2007 ]
QUOTE
It might be only one week to Midsummer, but nobody seems to have told mother nature. Snow has returned to parts of central Sweden, with five centimetres [ 2 inches ] falling in some places.

Global warming is a boondoggle. They can not even tell us what it is going to be next week.

Dissidents against the global warming dogma [ 11 June 2007 ]
QUOTE
We should never be more vigilant than at the moment a new dogma is being installed.... The left has been swept along, entranced by the allure of weather as revolutionary agent, naïvely conceiving of global warming as a crisis that will force radical social changes on capitalism by the weight of the global emergency...... Alas for their illusions. Capitalism is ingesting global warming as happily as a python swallowing a piglet. The press, which thrives on fear mongering, promotes the nonexistent threat as vigorously as it did the imminence of Soviet attack during the cold war, in concert with the arms industry.

It is just another boondoggle. Mr Cockburn has a left wing perspective but he is right on the main point.

Global Warming is a Political Boondoggle [ 14 February 2007 ]
QUOTE
Well, because the report [ of the IPCC - Editor ] is the end product of a political agenda, and it is the political agenda of both the extreme environmentalists who of course think we are destroying the world. But it’s also the political agenda of a group of people ... who believe that industrialization and development and capitalism and the Western way is a terrible system and they want to bring it down. They couldn’t do it by attacking energy because they know that would get the public’s back up very quickly. .....  Unfortunately, you’ve got a bunch of scientists who have this political agenda as well, and they have effectively controlled the IPCC process....

The other thing that you are seeing going on is that they have switched from talking about global warming to talking about climate change. The reason for that is since 1998 the global temperature has gone down -- only marginally, but it has gone down.......

This is from a real climatologist who does understand the science and its shortcomings. He recommends:-
