Conspiracy theories have attractions but some contradict each other. A lot are just silly. A few are rather better. Anyone who argues that governments are fools or rogues has a point. Of course some governments are worse than others.
PS It turns out that the American government under Bush has been the most grossly oppressive and authoritarian regime in America ever. Bush enacted the Military Commissions Act of 2006 which has given us America as a Fascist State

General Ivashov says that international terrorism does not exist

There is a lot in his view but Colonel Putin of the KGB really knows who is guilty of terrorism. That is partly why he got to be the Prime Minister of Russia while the good general is on the retired list. In practice good intentions are not enough. There are hooligans out there. Doctor Kelly was murdered or committed suicide after being harassed by the light fingered bunch of rogues who are Her Majesty's Government. The cover up went in fast, very fast. Inquiries are conducted on particular terms written to avoid the truth or, at least get the required result. Now it looks as though one man's evidence was crucially wrong.

Is the New York Times an Israeli Spy Nest?
